Everyday is an opportunity for change.
Not always good change either, but I rather focus on the good.
Everyday that you wake up is a day waiting, stretched out and open for you to do something. A chance to fix something wrong you might have done in the past, or to create something, or to just simply make your life better in some way.
Each day costs something, and it is up to you to decide how to spend it.
I used to waste my time disliking myself. Picking out insecurities, skipping meals, criticizing myself in my head until I couldn’t pick myself up off of the floor.
Slowly, I have opted each day to overcome self-hate. Each day, I have scolded myself for letting anxiety run away with my self-worth.
While I still have miles to go, I am so much better now. I taught myself how to nourish my body, thoughts, and mind. I’ve been trying to be a better friend and person. There has always been, for me, a thin line between self-improvement and self-hate. But I have journeyed safely to the side of the line I want to be on.
Loving yourself means that you have to fully accept not just yourself, but the choices you have made in the past, and the ones you will make. The concept of self-love itself is a choice we must make everyday.
Because at the end of each day, you only have yourself to carry you throughout each loss you encounter, every heartbreak, every achievement, and so on.
In order to love yourself, you must decide that you are worth more than you think. You have to believe you deserve better. Only then can you decide who you want in your life and how you’re going to progress from that moment on.
So stop apologizing for every little thing, stop saying, “I can’t wear that”, stop holding back. Stop making excuses for people who are supposed to have your back no matter what.
Some days it will more difficult than others and you will have to fight harder in those days. There are people out there who will bring you down, whether intentionally or not.
Once you start to make your own light, nothing else will compare.
