Style Tip: Wearing Dresses in the Fall

Fall is officially here, which means soft, rainy mornings, warm flannel sheets and the return of fall favorites, such as apple picking and pumpkin carving. And, as I discovered not long ago, it *is* possible to wear a dress while apple picking.

I’ve really been loving layering turtlenecks and sweaters under dresses and jumpsuits you wouldn’t wear in chilly weather otherwise. It adds extra options to pieces you may not have thought to wear in the fall before, and it’s fun to play with prints and textures.

I bought this corduroy dress secondhand from Poshmark, which was actually my first purchase from Poshmark. I have to say, I’m really happy with how it turned out. I received my order quickly, and the product seemed new. I’ve never bought anything like this dress before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect fit-wise, but it’s fine for the most part (tight on bottom, loose on top).

I’ve been trying to get into thrift shopping more. I never was that into it before, mostly since I didn’t have the patience to shift through a ton of clothes, and I’m usually looking for something specific that I never really expect secondhand shops to have. But Poshmark makes searching way easier since it’s all online, and you can even search for your favorite brands. *Disclaimer: I am not being paid by Poshmark to write this lol, I feel like I just discovered it and wanted to share.

I took this outfit to the apple orchards (kind of weird phrasing there, but you get me). Since I’ve graduated from college, I’ve started to realize just how isolating it can be if you don’t make an effort to see people and do things. So one of my bffs from college and I went apple picking at a somewhat close farm and also got to see many baby goats.

This year, I’ve been thinking a lot about how September is a doorway into a season of complexity. There’s the holidays coming up, which is exciting but can also be stressful and lonely for a lot of people. Fall is here, bringing with it crisp air and changing leaves, but with the promise of winter (my least favorite season). But I’m ready to embrace the best with the worst, I think.

Outfit details: Dress from Poshmark (from Shein originally, but they’re fast fashion and don’t really want to promote them too much), hat from Target and top from Hollister (from last year, but a similar one can be found here).
