Winter Outfit Roundup

One of my goals this year is to get back into blogging more consistently, so here I am.

I love layering, as you will soon see. I rounded up my favorite winter outfits from these last few years of blogging. As you can see, I reuse a lot of staple pieces (vests, sweaters, etc.) I also tend to keep things simple, choosing to keep the focus on one thing (for example, a bright red sweater with black jeans doesn’t need much else). Scarves are also one of my favorite ways to add to an outfit ~and~ keep warm at the same time.

If you’re in need of style inspiration, hopefully this helps you in the chillier months.

Holiday Flannel

It’s almost the end of the semester!!

I’ve been moving away more from “preppy” outfits, but sometimes I still come back to it, like I did with this holiday outfit.

Details: flannel from American Eagle (similar one here), skirt from J. Crew Factory, vest from J. Crew Factory. Boots stolen temporarily from my sister.

Apple of My Eye

I love apple picking. It reminds me of when I used to go with my mom and sister when I was younger, and it just makes me happy to be outside.

So some friends, my boyfriend and I decided to take on apple picking on a rainy Sunday afternoon and despite the chill, I had so much fun.

Since I was in an 8-hour retreat Saturday night, I decided to forgo some of my responsibilities on Sunday to have fun and do something I wanted to do. So much of my life in college has been dictated by meetings and obligations that I need to remind myself to actually go out and do something fun every now and then.

Different Sides to Style (You Should Show Them)

One of the things I love about fashion is how easy it is to change your look based on how you feel. On my blog and Instagram, I tend to showcase more of the “preppy” outfits I wear, but I don’t dress like that everyday.

Fashion, in my opinion, is one of the best ways to express yourself. If I want to feel polished and put together, I’ll put on a button-up and jeans. If I’m feeling a little more on the edgy side, I’ll wear black jeans and a dark sweater or crop top. In fashion, there are no shortage of ways to switch it up based on how you feel.

When I first started this blog, I was reading a lot of blog tips and dos and don’ts. One of the consistent things I heard was to keep your topics more narrow, aim for a niche audience and if you’re going to start a fashion blog, focus on a specific style.

Your Guide to Business Casual Clothing

Your Guide to (1)

When you’re just starting out with internships or an office job is usually when you look in your closet and realize you have about three business casual outfits. Not really a lot to go on. But then as you begin to search for more *adult* clothes, you realize they’re all pretty dang expensive.

Well, that’s why I’m here to help you find some business casual clothes, either already in your closet, or for a decent price at some of my favorite stores.

What to Wear: Fourth of July

Independence Day will be here before you know it, and it’s never too early to start thinking of some outfit ideas for whatever you’ve got planned.

I love planning outfits, so I found some great pieces that you could easily already have in your closet and incorporate into your outfit. If you’re looking for something new, I’ve linked to a ton of different pieces from a few of my favorite stores to help you out.

Chicago Botanic Garden

I’m a sucker for some flowers, and the Chicago Botanic Garden has tons of them. It’s one of my favorite places to go visit in the summer, and the place is big enough so that it’s hard to get bored exploring.

It’s $25 (per car) to park and get into the garden, which is not bad if you have a car full of people and are ready to spend a few hours walking around. It’s also a great place to get some photography practice (as you can see below).

Summer Blues

I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I’ve been trying to look up editing tips on Lightroom, and playing around with presets to figure out what feel to give my aesthetic on Instagram. I’ve been leaning more toward warmer photos, with gold/orange/peachy shades, but trying to get the colors I want in Lightroom is proving to be more difficult than I thought it was.

What to Wear: Farmers Market

I’m all about a good farmers market. I just love walking around outside with friends or family, looking at all the flowers and food that’s out. And what better time to show off that cute outfit that’s been at the back of your mind all week?

So I pulled together something simple and comfortable for walking around, something that you probably already have in your closet. My shirt and jeans are from American Eagle, but old, and my sandals are from DSW (and also old).

Here Comes the Sun

Spring is almost here – the days are stretching longer and the air has that exciting feeling of change, like something wonderful is about to happen that only comes with the switch of seasons. Stark trees hold the promise of new life, just biding their time to start blooming.
