This is How I Roll

I’m all for a t-shirt that says something funny. I was surprised to find this shirt at J. Crew Factory, and since I also love sushi, I knew it was meant to be.

One thing I wanted to bring up is the struggles of being a people pleaser. Yes, I am also one. Even though I will stand up for what’s right, even if it means upsetting someone, I also just want people to get along and be happy. For example, I love making people laugh. I live off of the tiny burst of adrenaline I get from making someone laugh or smile. I eat laughter for breakfast.

Last Minute Fourth of July Look

If you’re still looking for something to wear for the Fourth of July, I pulled this post together for some last minute outfit inspiration.

You can’t go wrong with some white shorts and a red tank top (and you most likely already have something like this in your closet).

Tank top from Target, shorts from American Eagle.

What to Wear: Fourth of July

Independence Day will be here before you know it, and it’s never too early to start thinking of some outfit ideas for whatever you’ve got planned.

I love planning outfits, so I found some great pieces that you could easily already have in your closet and incorporate into your outfit. If you’re looking for something new, I’ve linked to a ton of different pieces from a few of my favorite stores to help you out.

Chicago Botanic Garden

I’m a sucker for some flowers, and the Chicago Botanic Garden has tons of them. It’s one of my favorite places to go visit in the summer, and the place is big enough so that it’s hard to get bored exploring.

It’s $25 (per car) to park and get into the garden, which is not bad if you have a car full of people and are ready to spend a few hours walking around. It’s also a great place to get some photography practice (as you can see below).

Summer Blues

I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I’ve been trying to look up editing tips on Lightroom, and playing around with presets to figure out what feel to give my aesthetic on Instagram. I’ve been leaning more toward warmer photos, with gold/orange/peachy shades, but trying to get the colors I want in Lightroom is proving to be more difficult than I thought it was.

Take a Picture, It Lasts Longer

Photography has been an interest of mine since I was in elementary school and lining up my stuffed animals for a group photo, taken with my mom’s camera.

It wasn’t until college that I really started getting into the technical aspects of it. I paid too much for a digital camera that I still have now, although I use my mom’s DSLR for most photos.

Photography is more frustrating than people think – it can seem easy at first to get good photos – and if you’re observant, and know how to use a camera, it isn’t terribly difficult to get a good photo.

The challenge lies more in getting a photo that is absolutely breathtaking. Which, when you become a photographer, becomes a goal that is constantly hanging over your head. Even if you do happen to get an unforgettable photo, you want to take more.

Photography becomes an obsession, an addiction to creating a lasting story with one image.

Combining photography and fashion, two things I love, for this blog has been a challenge that I love.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want this blog to convey to readers, and it comes down to two simple things: inspiring and helping others.

And with that, here are the photos from one of my recent photo shoots, complete with a t-shirt emblazoned with one of my favorite things, a Polaroid camera.

T-shirt and skirt from Kohl’s, sandals from Nordstrom Rack.

What to Wear: Summer Date Night

I don’t know about you, but when a date night comes around I think way too much about what I’m going to wear. Staring at my closet for a solid ten minutes without coming up with any solutions is where I usually seem to end up.

For summer, my go-to is a sundress and nice sandals or heels that are easy to walk in. Here’s one dress that I wear often and is perfect for a dinner out. I bought it last year from Hollister, on sale, but here are a few others that are similar from Target, Forever 21and LuLu’s.

That Fourth of July Feeling

I was lucky to spend the last few days, including the fourth, in Texas with family. It was an awesome time, and I’ll probably write another, more in-depth blog post about it. Until then, enjoy these patriotic pictures taken by one of my fellow bloggers and friend.
